Supporting local people
Bringing Good News has no paid staff. We believe that it is much better to support local people as they make a difference in their own communities. We work alongside those people who have already shown an initiative to be actively involved in their own communities. We carefully evaluate the person and the projects we support by asking three basic questions.

What is the person's character - are they trustworthy?
What is his ability - will they be able to complete the project?
What is the purpose - does this project fulfil the aims of the charity?

In addition we have developed a strong system of accountability. Ian regularly visits most projects and local people have to give the charity a written report of how the money was spent. We also receive photographs of the development.

A few of the local projects we have supported
Assist local doctors to provide free medicineHelp Africans caring for orphans

In Ukraine we provide the funds for a group of doctors to once a month visit very poor rural villages and to provide free medicine and treatment for those who cannot afford it.

In the North province of Zambia we are helping a Christian pastor who is also an agriculturist to set up a small training centre to teach pastors, widows and orphans how to grow food and become self sufficient.

Support children's summer camps in Central AsiaEnable local Ukrainians to regularly visit orphanages

In Central Asia we have helped a church build a playground for the children. We are also helping a youth group to run children's clubs and to send young people to university.

In Ukraine we work closely with churches and individuals who will visit the orphanages and internats. We have helped churches to start clubs in the orphanages and give them assistance with the materials that they need. We have provided books, music and flannel graphs and are helping them to build up a children's resource centre.
